Golden-ringed Dragonfly

A striking, black insect with yellow rings along the length of the abdomen. The female is the UK’s longest dragonfly because of her long ovipositor. Male: a slight club shape to the abdomen. Female: more parallel sided and has a very long ovipositor.     Click on an image to enlarge it.

Norfolk Hawker

Species protected under the Wildlife and Countryside Act. The Norfolk Hawker is one of two brown hawker dragonflies found in Britain. Males and females look similar and have a yellow triangular mark near the top of the abdomen.       Click on an image to enlarge it.

Emperor Dragonfly

Brilliant Emerald

Black-tailed Skimmer

White-faced Darter

|

Four-spotted Chaser

Common Clubtail
