RSPB Ynys-hir
This is an RSPB reserve just outside Machynlleth. An impressive 24 species of dragonfly have been recorded on the site, with the recent addition of Brown Hawker. Species of note are the Small Red Damselfly, Black Darter and the Hairy Dragonfly.
There is a mix of habitats within the reserve including Welsh oak woodland, wet grassland, saltmarshes and a peat bog. There is access over the peat bog via a board walk which prevents visitors from harming this sensitive habitat. There are 7 bird hides within the reserve.
