Vote for Emperor!

Vote for Emperor!

Emperor Dragonfly (Anax imperator) is among 18 creatures shortlisted to feature on the new banknotes!

This is an excellent opportunity to get Dragonflies some limelight and much-deserved love.

Emperors are Amazing!

Emperor Dragonflies live up to their name- they’re large, powerful and fast! In fact, they are one of the biggest dragonflies in Britain.

The big blue males can be seen patrolling their watery territories, ponds, lakes and waterways, over the summer, and getting into vicious fights on the wing with rivals.

Their large size also makes them intimidating predators; as aquatic larvae, they can catch small fish and tadpoles, and as adults, they will happily munch on wasps and moths- although small flies like midges are their staple.
