Sign Petition To Ban Plastic Fruit Stickers
06/11/2025
Swansea University student Milena Tomaszewska has launched a new petition urging the government to ban plastic stickers on fruit and vegetables, arguing that they are unnecessary and environmentally harmful.
Billions of these small plastic stickers are used every year and are contributing to the growing problem of microplastic pollution, which contaminates our soil and waterways, posing risks to wildlife and our health.
Existing alternatives include using compostable materials; while this change will require our food supply-chain to adapt, France has successfully implemented a similar ban since 2022.
If successful, the petition will be a meaningful step in reducing single-use plastic waste and promoting more sustainable food systems.
