A visit to Staines Moor SSSI to search for Hairy Dragonfly, seen in 2023 but not photographed, Large Red Damselfly (only one recent record, in 2020) and other early-season species, led by Sue Webber & David Hepper.

Requirements: Close-focusing binoculars, lunch, wellies.
Additional Info: The site is easily flooded along our route (consider wellies), with interesting flora and invertebrates, ancient ant hills and the freely meandering River Colne and Bonehead Ditch. It's an open grazed floodplain grassland supporting ground nesting birds such as sky lark and lapwing. Barn owls hunt at dawn and dusk. There is a newly discovered harvest mouse population and otter spraint has been found a few times.
Meet: 10:30 at Moor Lane. On-street free parking but please car-share if possible.
