This site has several different habitats including a series of ponds.  It is also next to the Monmouthshire and Brecon Canal.  The site name translates to ‘slope of the ash trees’.  As well as dragonflies, this site is good for meadow flowers, butterflies and birds.  The reserve is managed by Gwent Wildlife Trust and Newport City Council.

The reserve is in the Allt-yr-Yn area of Newport, from Ridgeway Avenue, turn left onto Allt-yr-Yn View, follow the road for 500m and turn sharp left onto a rough track towards Grove Farm.  The reserve entrance is a short distance along the track, there is a small area for car parking outside the reserve.
