Allt-yr-Yn Local Nature Reserve (Newport)

This site has several different habitats including a series of ponds.  It is also next to the Monmouthshire and Brecon Canal.  The site name translates to ‘slope of the ash trees’.  As well as dragonflies, this site is good for meadow flowers, butterflies and birds.  The reserve is managed by Gwent Wildlife Trust and Newport City Council.

Opening times: Open at all times.

Nearest train station is Newport (less than 2 miles away).

Small car park outside reserve.

Facilities: Footpaths may be muddy.
