This area has excellent bog habitat with an exceptionally rich flora and fauna. It supports many dragons and damsels, including Keeled Skimmer, Four-spotted Chaser and Small Red Damselfly. A colony of the Scarce Blue-tailed Damselfly was confirmed here in 2000 (including the orange immature forma aurantiaca) but now appears to be lost. Access is via a secure research establishment and is by pre-booking only. Numbers will be limited (first come, first served).
If it pours with rain we may instead look at some of the rare plants of the area such as six insectivorous species (2 Butterworts, 2 Bladderworts and 2 Sundews).
