Learn to identify dragonflies and damselflies in their native habitat.

The numerous rivers, streams and water bodies found across Surrey are home to an abundance of dragonflies and damselflies.  Learn more about these beautiful predatory insects. This course is an opportunity for you to develop the skills to identify dragonflies & damselflies and appreciate how they have adapted to their environment.

You will learn to use wildlife keys to identify each unique species and to study their ecology. The morning session of this course will be spent in the classroom at the Merstham Community Hub. The remainder of the day will then be spent just a short drive away in the Nutfield Biodiversity Park.  Your tutor has private access to areas of this nature reserve where there is an abundance of these species to identify in their natural habitat.

Tutor – Simon Elson, Principal Environmental Enhancement Officer with Surrey County Council
