County Dragonfly Recorder Bill Budd passes away
12/11/2020
The British Dragonfly Society team was deeply saddened to learn of the recent passing of Bill Budd. Bill was a quietly passionate naturalist who supported the BDS as the County Dragonfly Recorder for Surrey and volunteered at the Natural History Museum (NHM). Earlier this year, an article in the journal Zootaxa announced that a newly discovered species of dragonfly would be named after Bill in recognition of his work relating to the study and conservation of dragonflies. Megalogomphus buddi, as pictured, is a brightly coloured insect that can be found breeding in fast flowing streams within the forests of Borneo.
At the BDS we would like to extend our condolences to Bill’s friends and family.
